Price Intelligence
Map Your Store helps you track grocery prices over time so you can spot deals, avoid overpaying, and make smarter purchasing decisions. From simple price history to AI-powered predictions, the price intelligence tools put you in control of your grocery budget.
How It Works
Every time you log a price -- whether by scanning a receipt, entering it manually, or pulling it from a connected grocery account -- Map Your Store saves it to your price history. Over time, this builds a picture of how prices change by store, season, and promotion cycle. The app uses that history to highlight deals, warn you about price increases, and even predict where prices are headed next.
Logging Prices
There are two main ways to record prices:
- Receipt scanning -- Take a photo of your grocery receipt and Map Your Store's AI reads the items and prices automatically. This is the fastest way to log an entire trip at once.
- Manual entry -- Type in an item name, price, and store. Useful for logging a single deal you spotted or correcting a receipt scan.
Prices from connected Kroger and Walmart accounts are also pulled in when you search for products through those integrations.
Price History and Trends
Every item you track gets its own price trend chart showing how the price has changed over time. You can see:
- The current price at each store where you have logged it.
- The historical high and low.
- A visual timeline so seasonal patterns are easy to spot.
This makes it simple to answer questions like "Is this a good price for strawberries right now?" at a glance.
Deals and Alerts
Map Your Store watches your price history for noteworthy changes:
- Deal detection -- The app flags items whose current price is significantly below their recent average. These show up in a dedicated deals view so you can take advantage of sales.
- Price alerts -- Add any item to your watchlist and set a target price. Map Your Store notifies you when the item hits that price at any tracked store.
- Basket deals -- Planning a specific set of purchases? The basket deal feature checks whether buying all the items at one store is cheaper than splitting across stores.
Cross-Store Price Comparison
Wondering which store has the best price on an item? The price comparison tool shows you the current and recent prices for any item across every store in your history, side by side. This is especially useful when planning a multi-store trip.
Buy or Wait
For items you buy regularly, Map Your Store analyzes the price cycle and gives you a simple buy now or wait recommendation. If the price tends to drop in a week or two, the app tells you to hold off. If it is near a recent low, it suggests buying now.
Price Predictions (Premium)
Premium subscribers get access to AI-powered price predictions. Based on historical trends, seasonal patterns, and recent momentum, Map Your Store forecasts where an item's price is likely headed over the coming days. This takes the guesswork out of timing your purchases.
Tips
- Scan your receipts after every trip. The more data Map Your Store has, the more accurate its deal detection and predictions become.
- Set price alerts for staple items you buy every week. You will be notified automatically when they go on sale instead of having to check manually.
- Use the buy-or-wait feature before stocking up. Buying in bulk only saves money if the price is actually low.
- Check the cross-store comparison before a big shopping trip to see if splitting your list across two stores would save enough to be worth the extra stop.
- Price predictions improve over time as your history grows. Give it a few weeks of data for the best results.
