Collaborative Shopping

Shopping doesn't have to be a solo mission. Collaborative Shopping lets you share a list with family or friends, divide up the work, and stay in sync in real time -- whether you're in the same store or splitting errands across town.

How It Works

You create a shared shopping list and invite others by sending them a link. Everyone on the list sees the same items, and any changes show up instantly for all members. You can assign specific items to specific people, chat within the list, and watch a live progress dashboard as everyone checks things off.

Creating a Shared List

  1. Start a shared list -- Go to Shared Lists and tap New Shared List. Give it a name (like "Thanksgiving Prep" or "Weekly Groceries").
  2. Add items -- Add everything you need, just like a regular shopping list.
  3. Invite people -- Tap Invite to generate a shareable link. Send it to anyone you want to shop with -- they'll join the list by opening the link.

Real-Time Updates

Once people join your shared list, everything stays in sync:

  • When someone adds, removes, or checks off an item, every member sees the change immediately.
  • Presence indicators show who's currently viewing the list, so you know who's actively shopping.
  • No more texting back and forth asking "did you get the milk?" -- just check the list.

Assigning Items to Shoppers

For larger lists or when multiple people are shopping at the same time, you can assign items to specific members:

  • Manual assignment -- Tap an item and choose who should get it.
  • Auto-split -- Tap Auto-Split and Map Your Store will divide the items evenly among all active members.

Assigned items are tagged with the person's name, so everyone knows exactly what they're responsible for.

In-List Chat

Need to coordinate on the fly? The built-in chat lets you message your shopping group without leaving the list:

  • Ask questions ("Should I get 2% or whole milk?")
  • Share updates ("They're out of the organic brand, getting the regular one instead.")
  • Keep all shopping communication in one place.

Progress Dashboard

The progress dashboard gives you a bird's-eye view of how the trip is going:

  • See what percentage of the list is complete.
  • Check who has picked up their assigned items and who still has things left.
  • Know when the whole list is done so you can wrap up and head home.

Tips

  • Auto-split works great when everyone is in the same store -- each person can head to a different section and knock out the list faster.
  • Use the chat for substitution questions instead of switching to a separate messaging app. It keeps the context right next to the list.
  • If someone can't make it, you can reassign their items to another member with a quick tap.
  • Presence indicators help you know if someone has started shopping yet, so you can hold off or jump in as needed.
  • Shared lists stick around after you finish shopping, so you can reuse them next week or turn them into a template.

Shop smarter, not harder.
