Analytics
Understanding your shopping habits can help you save money and shop smarter. Analytics gives you a clear picture of where your money goes, helps you stick to a budget, and even rewards you for building consistent shopping routines.
How It Works
Map Your Store tracks your shopping trips and spending automatically. Over time, it builds up a picture of your habits -- which stores you visit, what categories you spend the most on, and how your spending trends change week to week. Premium members get access to deeper spending analysis and budget tracking tools, while achievements and trip history are available to everyone.
Trip History
Every completed shopping trip is saved so you can look back on it later.
- View past trips -- See a list of all your previous shopping trips, including the store, date, items purchased, trip duration, and total spent.
- Trip details -- Tap into any trip to see the full breakdown of what you bought and how long the trip took.
- Bulk import -- If you're just getting started, you can import past trip data in bulk to build up your history faster.
Trip history is available to all Map Your Store users.

These insights make it easier to find areas where you can cut back or shift your spending.

Household Budget Dashboard (Premium)
The Household Budget Dashboard gives you a comprehensive view of your family's grocery spending with interactive charts and detailed breakdowns.
Category Breakdown
See your spending organized by category -- produce, dairy, meat, snacks, beverages, and more. A visual chart shows where the biggest portions of your budget go, making it easy to spot areas where you could cut back.
Store Comparison
Compare your average basket cost across different stores side by side. This helps you understand which stores give you the best value for the types of items you buy most.
Family Member Spending
If you're on a Family plan, see how much each household member is spending. This is useful for coordinating a shared grocery budget and making sure everyone is contributing fairly.
Budget Forecast
Based on your spending so far this month, the dashboard projects whether you'll finish under or over budget. The forecast updates after each shopping trip, giving you time to adjust if you're trending high.
Savings Report
See a summary of how much you've saved through route optimization (less time and distance walked), deals and coupons, and buy-or-wait recommendations. It's a satisfying look at the cumulative value of using Map Your Store.
Spending Trends
View month-over-month spending trends on a line chart. Spot seasonal patterns, see the impact of budget changes, and track your progress over time.
CSV Export
Download your trip and spending data as a CSV file for use in spreadsheets or personal finance tools. Choose a date range and export everything in one click.
Tips
- Check your spending by category once a month -- you might be surprised where most of your money goes.
- Setting a realistic budget is more effective than an ambitious one. Start with what you typically spend and adjust from there.
- Trip history is useful for reordering. If you had a great shopping trip, you can reference it to build a similar list next time.
- Streaks are a fun way to stay motivated, but don't stress if you miss a week. The goal is building better habits over time, not perfection.
- Use the store comparison chart when deciding where to shop for a big trip. Even small per-item differences add up over a full cart.
- Export your data periodically if you track finances in a separate tool. The CSV includes all the detail you need.
