Grocery Integrations
Map Your Store connects with major grocery retailers and uses your device's camera to bring product information, store locations, and pricing right into the app. Instead of switching between apps or websites, you can search for products, scan barcodes, and digitize receipts all in one place.
How It Works
Map Your Store integrates with Kroger and Walmart to let you search their product catalogs, find nearby store locations, and view current pricing. On top of that, the built-in barcode scanner identifies products by their packaging, and the receipt scanner uses AI to extract items and prices from a photo of any grocery receipt.
Kroger Integration
Connect your Kroger account to unlock these features:
- Product search -- Search Kroger's full product catalog by name. Results include pricing, product images, and sizes.
- Store locations -- Find Kroger-family stores near you (including subsidiaries like Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, and others).
- UPC lookup -- Look up any product by its barcode number to see Kroger's current price and details.
Connecting Your Kroger Account
- Go to Settings and tap Connect Kroger.
- You will be redirected to Kroger's sign-in page to authorize Map Your Store.
- Once authorized, product searches and pricing will pull from your local Kroger store.
Walmart Integration
The Walmart integration works similarly:
- Product search -- Search Walmart's catalog by name to see prices, descriptions, and availability.
- Store locations -- Find Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market locations nearby.
- UPC lookup -- Scan or enter a barcode to see Walmart's listing for that product.
No account connection is needed for Walmart searches.
Barcode Scanning
Point your camera at any product's barcode to instantly identify it:
- On your phone -- The scanner uses your device's camera with real-time barcode detection. Works on both iOS and Android.
- On the web -- The browser-based scanner accesses your webcam or laptop camera to read barcodes.
Once a barcode is scanned, Map Your Store looks it up across connected retailers to show you the product name, current pricing, and details. This is a fast way to add items to your shopping list or check prices while you are in the store.
Receipt Scanning
Turn a paper receipt into digital data with one photo:
- Tap Scan Receipt and take a photo of your grocery receipt (or choose one from your camera roll).
- Map Your Store's AI reads the receipt and extracts each item name and price.
- Review the results and confirm. The items and prices are saved to your price history automatically.
Receipt scanning is the fastest way to build up your price history across stores without manually entering every item.
Tips
- Connect your Kroger account if you shop at any Kroger-family store. The pricing data feeds directly into Map Your Store's price intelligence features.
- Use barcode scanning while you are in the store to quickly compare prices between retailers before you buy.
- Scan your receipt at the end of every trip. It takes a few seconds and gives Map Your Store the price data it needs for deal detection and trend analysis.
- If a barcode scan does not return results from Kroger or Walmart, Map Your Store falls back to a public product database so you still get basic product info.
- For best receipt scanning results, lay the receipt flat on a contrasting surface and make sure the text is in focus before taking the photo.
