Smart Location Reminders

Ever drive past a store and realize you needed something? Smart Location Reminders notify you when you're near a store where you have items to buy, prices that dropped, or pantry items running low -- so you never miss an opportunity to shop efficiently.

How It Works

When you enable location reminders, Map Your Store monitors your position in the background. When you come within range of a store you've saved or visited, the app checks several sources -- your shopping list, watched prices, pantry, and predicted purchases -- and sends you a push notification if there's something relevant. The monitoring is efficient and only triggers when your position changes significantly.

Reminder Types

You can enable or disable each type independently:

• Shopping list reminders -- "You're near Kroger -- 5 items on your list!" Triggered when you have unchecked items on your shopping list and you're near a store.
• Price drop reminders -- "Almond milk is 30% off at Kroger!" Triggered when an item on your watch list has a recent price drop at a nearby store.
• Expiring pantry reminders -- "3 pantry items expiring soon -- add to your list?" Triggered when you have pantry items expiring within a few days and you're near a store.
• Predicted item reminders -- "Predicted items ready at Kroger." Triggered when your purchase history suggests you're due to restock certain items and a relevant store is nearby.

Configuration

Fine-tune how reminders work for you in Settings under Location Reminders:

• Master toggle -- Turn all location reminders on or off with a single switch.
• Geofence radius -- Set how close you need to be to a store before reminders trigger, from 100 meters to 2 kilometers. A smaller radius means you'll only get notified when you're very close; a larger radius gives you more advance notice.
• Per-type toggles -- Enable or disable each reminder type individually. Want shopping list alerts but not pantry reminders? No problem.
• Quiet hours -- Set a start and end time for quiet hours (e.g., 10 PM to 7 AM). No reminders will be sent during this window.

Privacy and Battery

Location monitoring is designed to be efficient and respectful:

• Position-change based -- The app only checks for nearby stores when your position changes by a meaningful amount, not on a continuous loop.
• Rate limited -- Checks happen at most once every few minutes to conserve battery.
• No tracking -- Your location is used locally to trigger reminders. It is not stored on our servers or shared with anyone.

Tips

• Start with a 500-meter radius and adjust from there. Too small and you might already be at the store before you're notified; too large and you'll get reminders when you're just passing through the area.
• Quiet hours are especially useful if you live near a grocery store. Without them, you might get pinged every time you're at home.
• Shopping list reminders are the most immediately useful type. Even if you skip the others, this one alone can save you extra trips.
• Keep your pantry up to date for the best expiring-item reminders. A quick scan after each shopping trip keeps everything accurate.
