Share Lists with Family

Shop as a team. Map Your Store lets you create shared shopping lists that multiple people can view and edit at the same time. Assign items, track progress in real time, and coordinate with built-in chat -- all from your phones.

Prerequisites

  • A Map Your Store account
  • Family members or friends who also have Map Your Store accounts (they can sign up for free)

Steps

  1. Create a new shared list. From the Shopping Lists section, tap "New Shared List." Give it a name -- something like "Weekly Groceries" or "BBQ Party Shopping."

  2. Copy the invite link and send to family members. After creating the list, tap the share button to get an invite link. Send it to anyone you want to collaborate with via text message, email, or any messaging app. When they open the link, they will be added to the list automatically.

  3. Everyone adds items to the shared list. All members can add items to the list. Items appear in real time for everyone -- no need to refresh. This is a great way to let the whole household contribute to what is needed throughout the week.

  4. Assign items to specific people (or auto-split). If multiple people are heading to the store, you can divide the work:

    • Manual assignment -- Tap an item and assign it to a specific person.
    • Auto-split -- Let Map Your Store divide items evenly among the shoppers with one tap.
  5. Shop together -- see real-time progress. When it is time to shop, everyone opens the shared list. As each person checks off items, the list updates for all members instantly. You can see at a glance who has picked up what.

  6. Use in-list chat to coordinate. Need to ask about a substitution or let someone know you found a deal? Open the chat panel within the shared list to message the group without switching apps.

  7. Track everyone's progress on the dashboard. The collaboration dashboard shows an overview of the shopping trip: how many items each person has collected, what is still remaining, and the overall completion percentage.

Tips

  • Shared lists work great for roommates, couples, and families. Anyone with the invite link can join.
  • You can have multiple shared lists active at the same time -- one for regular groceries, another for a special occasion, and so on.
  • Members can leave a shared list at any time without affecting the list itself.
