Your First Shopping Trip
You have an account and a mapped store -- now it's time to put Map Your Store to work. This page walks you through building a shopping list, optimizing your route, and completing a trip.
Add items to your shopping list
- Open your Shopping List from the main menu.
- Tap Add Item and type what you need (e.g., "milk", "bananas", "chicken breast").
- Keep adding items until your list is complete.
Quick ways to add items
- Barcode scanner: Scan a product's barcode with your phone camera to add it instantly.
- Receipt scanner: Snap a photo of a previous receipt to import items automatically.
- Predictions: Map Your Store learns your shopping habits over time and can suggest items you're likely to need.
Select a store
Tap Select Store at the top of your shopping list and choose the store you want to shop at. Map Your Store will use that store's layout to plan your route.
Optimize your route
Tap the Optimize Route button. Map Your Store analyzes your shopping list against the store layout and calculates the fastest path through the aisles, so you visit each item's location without unnecessary backtracking.
Behind the scenes, the app uses smart algorithms to figure out the best order to visit your items. The result is a step-by-step route shown right on the store map.
Follow the route
When you arrive at the store:
- Open your optimized route on the store map.
- Follow the highlighted path from one item to the next.
- Check off each item as you pick it up.
The map updates in real time so you always know where you are in your trip and what's next on the list.
Complete your trip
Once you've checked off every item, tap Complete Trip. Map Your Store will save a record of the trip including:
- Date and time
- Items purchased
- Trip duration
- Total spent (if you enter it)
Over time, these records feed into your shopping stats and achievements -- like tracking your fastest trip or longest shopping streak.

Now that you've completed your first trip, here are a few things to explore:
