Frequently Asked Questions

Is Map Your Store free?

Yes. The core features -- store mapping, shopping lists, route optimization, and collaborative shopping -- are completely free. Map Your Store Premium unlocks advanced features like price predictions, meal planning, spending analytics, and the public API. There is also a Family plan that lets up to 6 people share one Premium subscription.

How does route optimization work?

When you add items to your shopping list and select a mapped store, Map Your Store figures out which aisles contain your items and calculates the shortest path through the store to pick them all up. It accounts for the store layout, including obstacles, entrances, and checkout locations, so you spend less time walking back and forth.

Can I use Map Your Store without mapping a store first?

Yes. You can use shopping lists, price tracking, recipe imports, and other features without a store map. However, route optimization works best when the store has aisles mapped out. Check the Marketplace to see if someone in the community has already mapped your local store.

Does it work offline?

Partially. If you have visited a store or loaded your shopping list while online, that data is cached on your device and available offline. Any changes you make offline will sync back to the server once you reconnect. Features that require a live connection, like product search or receipt scanning, are not available offline.

How accurate is receipt scanning?

Map Your Store uses AI to read your receipts and extract item names, quantities, and prices. It works well with clearly printed receipts in good lighting. Handwritten notes, faded ink, or crumpled paper can reduce accuracy. You can always review and edit the scanned results before saving.

Can multiple people shop from the same list?

Yes. Create a shared list and invite others by sending them a link. Everyone on the list sees items added, removed, or checked off in real time. You can assign items to specific people and track each person's progress through the collaborative shopping dashboard.

How do I cancel Premium?

Go to Settings > Subscription > Manage Billing. This opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel your subscription. You will keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your personal shopping lists, trip history, and analytics are visible only to you. Shared lists are visible only to the members you invite. If you publish a store to the Marketplace, only the store layout is shared -- not your personal data. Map Your Store does not sell your data.

What happens to my stores if I cancel Premium?

You keep all your stores, shopping lists, and trip history. The only change is that Premium-only features -- like price predictions, meal planning, spending analytics, and API access -- become unavailable until you resubscribe.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings > Data > Export Store Layouts to download your stores in GeoJSON or JSON format. This is useful for backups or for use in other mapping tools.

How do price predictions work?

Map Your Store tracks prices over time and uses AI to analyze historical pricing patterns, seasonal trends, and recent changes to forecast whether a product's price is likely to go up, down, or stay the same. This helps you decide whether to buy now or wait for a better deal. Price predictions are a Premium feature.

What is the difference between Premium and Family plans?

Premium is for a single user. The Family plan includes everything in Premium and lets you add up to 6 members to a family group, all sharing one subscription. Family members each get their own account with full Premium access.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes, an account is required to save your data and sync it across devices. Map Your Store uses secure authentication and does not require a password -- you can sign in with your email or a third-party provider.

What browsers and devices are supported?

Map Your Store works in modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It is also available as a mobile app for iOS and Android through the app stores, and works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that you can install from your browser.
