Common Issues
If something is not working as expected, check the list below for a solution. Most issues can be resolved with a quick fix.
Map not loading
- Check your internet connection. The map tiles need to download from the server.
- Refresh the page. A temporary glitch may have interrupted the initial load.
- Clear your browser cache. Outdated cached files can sometimes interfere. Go to your browser settings and clear cached images and files, then reload.
- Try a different browser. If the problem persists, this helps determine whether it is browser-specific.
Route optimization not working
- Make sure the store has aisles mapped. Route optimization needs a store layout with labeled aisles to calculate a path. If the store has no aisles, the optimizer has nothing to work with.
- Check that your items match aisle categories. The optimizer matches shopping list items to aisle categories. If an item does not match any aisle, it may be skipped. Try editing the item name or manually assigning it to an aisle.
- Verify the store has an entrance and checkout. The route needs a starting point and an endpoint.
Receipt scan not recognizing items
- Use good lighting. Low light or harsh shadows make it harder for the AI to read text.
- Flatten the receipt. Crumpled or folded receipts produce blurry results.
- Scan a smaller section. If the full receipt is not working, try capturing just the item list portion.
- Edit the results. After scanning, you can manually correct any items that were misread before saving.
Barcode scanner not working
- Grant camera permission. Your browser or device needs permission to access the camera. Check your browser's site settings or your device's app permissions.
- Ensure good lighting. The camera needs enough light to read the barcode clearly.
- Hold the device steady. Keep the barcode centered in the viewfinder and hold still for a moment.
- Clean the camera lens. A smudged lens can prevent a clear read.
Push notifications not arriving
- Check browser notification permissions. Your browser may be blocking notifications from Map Your Store. Look for the notification icon in your browser's address bar or check site permissions in browser settings.
- Check notification preferences. In Map Your Store, go to Settings > Notifications and make sure push notifications are enabled and the notification types you want are turned on.
- Check your device's Do Not Disturb settings. System-level settings can suppress all notifications.
Shared list not syncing
- Check your internet connection. Real-time sync requires an active connection on all devices.
- Refresh the page. This reconnects you to the sync service.
- Make sure all members have accepted the invite. Only members who have joined the list through the invite link can see and edit it.
Store changes not saving
- Check your internet connection. Changes are saved to the server and require a connection.
- Look for error messages. A red banner or toast notification at the top or bottom of the screen may explain what went wrong.
- Refresh and try again. If the error was temporary, a fresh page load often resolves it.
- Check your permissions. If you are editing a store you did not create, you may need to submit a proposal instead of editing directly.
Cannot find my store in Kroger or Walmart search
- Try searching by address or zip code. The store may be listed under a slightly different name.
- Check that the store is a supported banner. The Kroger integration covers Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, and other Kroger-owned brands. See Supported Stores for the full list.
- Map the store manually. If the store is not in the Kroger or Walmart system, you can always create a store layout yourself using the drawing tools.
App feels slow
- Clear your browser cache. Accumulated cached data can slow things down over time.
- Close other tabs. The map editor in particular uses more memory and processing power when many browser tabs are open.
- Try a different browser. Performance can vary between browsers. Chrome and Edge tend to perform well with map-heavy applications.
- Check your device. Older devices or those with limited memory may struggle with complex store layouts.
