iOS App

The Map Your Store iOS app gives you the full experience on your iPhone or iPad.

Downloading the App

1. Open the App Store on your iOS device.
2. Search for Map Your Store.
3. Tap Get to download and install.

Signing In

When you first open the app, you'll be prompted to sign in or create an account. Map Your Store uses secure authentication — sign in with your email and password, or use a social login option if available. Your account is the same across all platforms, so if you've already been using Map Your Store on the web, all your data will be there.

Permissions

The app will ask for a few permissions to enable key features. You can grant or deny each one, but some features won't work without them.

Camera

Used for:

• Barcode scanning — Scan product barcodes to look up items and add them to your list. The iOS app uses ML Kit for fast, accurate scanning.
• Receipt scanning — Take a photo of your grocery receipt to automatically log items and prices.

Location

Used for:

• Nearby stores — Find stores close to your current location.
• Store suggestions — Get relevant store recommendations based on where you are.

Location access is optional. You can always search for stores manually.

Mobile Features

The native iOS app includes features designed for on-the-go shopping:

• Barcode scanning with ML Kit — Point your camera at any product barcode for instant lookup. ML Kit provides faster and more accurate scanning than browser-based alternatives.
• Pull-to-refresh — Swipe down on any list or store view to refresh the data.
• Swipe gestures — Swipe on list items to quickly check off, delete, or assign them.
• Screen wake lock — Your screen stays on while you're actively shopping, so you don't have to keep unlocking your phone in the store.

Keeping the App Updated

Enable automatic updates in your iOS settings to always have the latest version:

1. Open Settings > App Store.
2. Turn on App Updates under Automatic Downloads.
